Reverse Infinite Scroll not Working properly when mouse scroll is active
I want to create a chat-like component with an "infinite" scroll, so that initially the user just sees the latest messages and when scrolling to the top - new messages are loaded and the user can see "older" messages.
I am working with Angular 7 and tried to implement it with three different components (propreitary, Prime NG's datascroll with a few changes[inverted] and Infinite Scroll component), but I keep getting the same problem:
When the new messages are added at the end of the list - everything works fine, but when I try to add the messages at the begining of the list it does not work if I am using a mouse to scroll up.
If I use the keyboard - the new messages are added and the scrollTop position is maintained relatively. But if I use the mouse to scroll up (mouse drag) the ABSOLUTE scrollTop position is maintained and the user looses track of the messages.
Example:
If the initial subset was messages 36-45, and the user scrolls up to message 36, I'd like to load 10 more messages (26-35), but keep the scroll position on message 36 (for a smooth experience). If I scroll up with the keyboard, that's exactly what happens, but if I scroll up using the mouse the - absolute value of the scrollTop is kept and the list "jumps" to message 26.
I can set the scrollTop via code, but when the scrolling continues, the position "jumps" back to the previous scrollTop value.
Any idea why that happens? How can I fix that?
