Applying an equalizer to a Spotify stream on Android

0

I'm trying to apply a low pass/high pass filter effect to a Spotify stream, but can't seem to figure it out. I tried out the new SDK with the remote library, but I don't think it's possible to do it with that, since the actual audio isn't played on the app, but rather on the Spotify app itself.

So I discovered that I could still use the old Spotify Streaming SDK. Which has a Spotify Player object used for streaming. I also discovered the native Equalizer library, but in order to instantiate it, I need a AudioSessionID.

Equalizer(int priority, int audioSession)

This is normally retrieved from

MediaPlayer.getAudioSessionId()

But this function of course isn't available with the Spotify Player object. So is this possible in any way? Should I look for a different Equalizer? Am I using the wrong object in the Spotify SDK to apply an effect to?

I know for a fact that it's possible, since there is an app on the Play Store that supports this. You can add your own Spotify account, load songs, play them and apply multiple different audio effects to them. (Filter, Delay, Reverb) Which is what I want. (The name of the app is djay FREE)
