How Can I get “details” view to output a pass/fail status if Student GPA is less than 2.0?

0

I have a scaffolded data-context MVC with a "details" view that outputs a list of students with properties of First Name, Last Name and GPA, all of which have been input by the user through a form. I also gave the student class a property of "Status", which should display as pass/fail based on whether or not their GPA is above 2.0. However, the Status is not input by the user, so it doesn't follow the format as the other properties. Instead, there should be a method that outputs pass/fail after gauging the GPA. However, I'm a bit stuck on how to go about this. I'm trying to understand the auto-generated code so I can add this feature.

In the details view, all the properties are wrapped in Html.Displays like so:

   <dt>
@Html.DisplayNameFor(model => model.FirstName)
</dt>

<dd>
@Html.DisplayFor(model => model.FirstName)
</dd>

<dt>
@Html.DisplayNameFor(model => model.LastName)
</dt>

<dd>
@Html.DisplayFor(model => model.LastName)
</dd>

<dt>
@Html.DisplayNameFor(model => model.GPA)
</dt>

<dd>
@Html.DisplayFor(model => model.GPA)
</dd>

<dd>
@Html.DisplayFor(model => model.Status)
</dd>

</dl>

You see that at the bottom, I added my Status property; the problem is that the property does not get defined by the user, unlike the others--so I can't just follow the same format as the auto-generated code. One thing I'm unsure of is where the method for determining pass or fail should go. Would it go in my StudentController? Also how, if at all, should I change the final line in my details view (@Html.DisplayFor(model=>model.Status) so that the status is output along with the user-defined properties?

I appreciate any suggestions!
