How to authenticate user on Button click?

0

Actually i'm new in VB and ASPX and i'm trying to make a simple login page that will redirect the user after the button click to index.aspx that i've made not accessible to anonymouse users from web.config as you can see here:

   <authentication mode="Forms">
<forms loginUrl="auth.aspx" timeout="30"/>
</authentication>
<authorization>
<deny users="?"/>
</authorization>

So the user instead of getting redirected to index.aspx is redirected to the login.aspx now i'm trying to open the index.aspx on button click here is my button:

<asp:Button runat="server" ID="loginBtn" onClick="loginBtn_Click" Text="Accedi" class="btn btn-primary btn-fill btn-block mb-3"/>

And here is what i'm trying to do but it still remain in the login page, i suppose i have to validate the user to let him go forward but how can i do it?

 Protected Sub loginBtn_Click(sender As Object, e As EventArgs)
Response.Redirect("index.aspx")
End Sub

    To validate the response use ` If ValidateInput ("index.aspx") Response.Redirect ("index.aspx")`
