Sending from all other ranks and receiving with root

Multi tool use
Multi tool use

-1

Attempting to send an array to root from all other ranks.

Used the MPI_Send and MPI_Recv routines however getting deadlocked.

if (rank!=0) {
MPI_Send(&array,size,type,0,tag,comm);
}
else {
for (i=1;i<nprocessors;i++) {
MPI_Recv(&buffer_array,size,type,i,tag,comm,MPI_STATUS_IGNORE);
}
}

No luck, unfortunately. As I understand the send and receive routine, it shouldn't deadlock as long as there are matching statements.

    Double check you are passing the right buffer argument. And be aware MPI_Gather() is likely what you are looking for.

  • Thank you. I have since implemented MPI_Gather() with a larger global array and that has done the trick as I needed to print to file with only one rank.
