Use bits of page/post content as description or failover to site description on jekyll blog
I want to use bits of the page/post's content as part of my site's description but failover to the description set in _config.yml while also using whatever I put in the frontmatter of my markdown pages over the other two sources of data.
{% if page.description != "" %}
{{ page.description }}
{% else %}
{% if page.excerpt or post.excerpt %}
{{ page.content | strip_html | strip_newlines | condense_spaces | truncate:150 }}
{% else %}
{{ site.description }}
{% endif %}
{% endif %}
I want it to do;
if description: ""
is found in post/page frontmatter and has text between the quotes, use that. else, use the first 150 characters of page content or site description for the home page.
