Setting access token validity by “token services” in OAuth2.0

I'm getting acquainted with oauth2.0 tutorial using spring and jwt tokens. I am wondering about the role of tokenServices() in SecurityConfig class. The problem I have, is that, when I set access token validity to 30s by: defaultTokenServices.setAccessTokenValiditySeconds(30); it doesn't work. In the AbstractTokenGranter the AuthorizationServerTokenServices bean that is autowired is DefaultTokenServices but with the default 43200s value set (not 30). But When I set it directly on ClientDetailsServiceConfigurer by configurer.accessTokenValiditySeconds(30) it works.

The question is why setting access token validity works here:

@Override
public void configure(ClientDetailsServiceConfigurer configurer) throws Exception {
configurer
.inMemory()
.withClient(clientId)
.secret(passwordEncoder.encode(clientSecret))
.authorizedGrantTypes(grantType)
.scopes(scopeRead, scopeWrite)
.resourceIds(resourceIds)
.accessTokenValiditySeconds(30);
}

but not here:

@Bean
@Primary
public DefaultTokenServices tokenServices() {
final DefaultTokenServices defaultTokenServices = new DefaultTokenServices();

defaultTokenServices.setTokenStore(tokenStore());
defaultTokenServices.setSupportRefreshToken(true);
defaultTokenServices.setAccessTokenValiditySeconds(30);

return defaultTokenServices;
}

According to @DeezCashews answer in this post it should work in both places.
