Monodevelop 7.7 (build 1869) “run on external console” does not work / Linux Mint 19.1 “Tessa” Xfce

0

Monodevelop 7.5 (build 1255) runs flawless under Xubuntu 18.04 LTS. As external console xterm is used and code is executed in the same.

Under Linux Mint 19.1 Xfce-Edition the external console does not appear, only the internal console can be used. The known limitation of the internal console is read-only.

In https://github.com/mono/monodevelop/issues/6484 the topic of using the xfce4-terminal was solved, it will be available for the versions 7.8.0.1105 and future ones.

However is there any workaraound in the meantime using Monodevelop 7.7? How did Xubuntu with Monodevelop 7.5 manage this topic? ijust need an external console, xterm would be also fine.
