Mongoose: ensureIndex running after insertMany
I have set two compound indexes in my Schema
(...)
ModelSchema.index({"field1":1, "field2":1, "field3": 1, "field4": 1})
ModelSchema.index({"field1":1, "field2":1, "field3": -1, "field4": -1})
module.exports = mongoose.model('Model', ModelSchema)
Then I'm calling
Model.insertMany(itemsArray)
In mongo shell, I can see that both indexes were created. However, when I tried to query the collection with a hint for the second index, I got an error.
So what I did was to turn on mongoose debug
mongoose.set('debug', true)
And in the log I could see that the order of operations is happening like:
Mongoose: models.ensureIndex({"field1":1, "field2":1, "field3": 1, "field4": 1})
Mongoose: models.insertMany([....])
(...other operations of my code happening here)
Mongoose: models.ensureIndex({"field1":1, "field2":1, "field3": -1, "field4": -1})
Mongoose: models.indexInformation({ full: true })
So, it seems to me that the 2 things are happening:
- insertion is happening before the second index is ensured
- indexing is happening asynchronously while my code is already executing
How can I guarantee that both indexes are ensured before inserting the items in the collection?
