Replace words on Safari iOS using a Content Blocker
In short:
Is it possible to replace words on Safari iOS using a Content Blocker?
In long:
I know how to block:
- Cookies (with
block-cookies
) - Elements via CSS selectors (with
css-display-none
) - URLs or URLs containing specific text (with
url-filter
andregex
)
But I'm looking to replace words - not hide them.
For the sake of clarity, one example can be: replace all instances of pizza
with yum
.
My current approach would be to:
- Parse the user's webpage to
JSON
- Find all instances of
pizza
and replace them withyum
. - Save the results as a new
HTML
orJSON
file.
But then what? How would I show the resulting JSON/HTML to the user in the iOS Safari browser?
Is this at all possible, or do we only have access to CSS selectors?
Notes
- Must I make my own browser?
- No 'private' APIs (I'm looking to release this).
