VS Code on Ubuntu 18.04 with Python - Using external terminal gives “Timeout” error, but only once
Bit of a weird one here. Recently I've started getting this error when I try to run my python scripts with the external terminal:
The error
The weird thing is, I only get this if there are no terminal windows open in the background. If there is even a single terminal window already open (regardless of what said open window is running), the script runs fine.
I've tried playing with the settings.json file with no luck. For the moment I'm using the integrated terminal option which works fine.
Any solutions ?

Might be an issue with VS Code not launching your external terminal and so the debugger connection times out.
