Unable to make MKMapView overlays visible; mapView(_ mapView: MKMapView, rendererFor overlay: MKOverlay) not...
I've assigned my mapView.delegate
to be the view controller and implemented the protocol stubs for the MKMapViewDelegate
.
View Did Load
let mapFrame = LayoutManager.between(elementAbove: roundName, elementBelow: selectTeamButton, width: view.frame.width, topPadding: 2 * .MARGINAL_PADDING, bottomPadding: .PADDING)
mapView = MKMapView(frame: mapFrame)
mapView.delegate = self
mapView.showsUserLocation = true
mapView.setUserTrackingMode(.follow, animated: true)
view.addSubview(mapView)var points: [CLLocationCoordinate2D] = [CLLocationCoordinate2D]()
for annotation in boundaries {
points.append(annotation.coordinate)
}
borderDrawing = MKPolyline(coordinates: &points, count: points.count)
mapView.addOverlay(borderDrawing, level: .aboveLabels)
However, in my delegate method
mapView(_ mapView: MKMapView, rendererFor overlay: MKOverlay)
, I'm unable to get any events to fire.
I've checked the status of the delegate -- I'm still able to get expected behavior from the mapView(_ mapView: MKMapView, viewFor annotation: MKAnnotation)
by changing the pin color.
private func mapView(_ mapView: MKMapView, rendererFor overlay: MKOverlay) -> MKOverlayRenderer {
debugPrint("called rendererfor")
if overlay is MKPolyline {
let polylineRenderer = MKPolylineRenderer(overlay: overlay)
polylineRenderer.strokeColor = rgba(0, 88, 230, 0.7)
polylineRenderer.lineWidth = 5
return polylineRenderer
} else {
return MKOverlayRenderer(overlay: overlay)
}
}
Sadly, from this, I get no behavior. The debugPrint
line isn't even executed. I'm scratching my head as to why the delegate method won't work as expected.
